The Knoxville Track Club (KTC) is soliciting resumes from interested, qualified candidates for the position(s) of Race Director for the 2007 Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon. The KTC is open to considering candidates for a Director or Co-Director position. The position(s) begins June 1, 2006, with the Marathon on a date TBD in Spring 2007. The 2007 Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon is comprised of a multi-event weekend, which includes the marathon, expo, half-marathon, marathon relay, 5k, the Cariten Kids Run, post-race party and volunteer party.

The inaugural Knoxville Marathon was held in 2005 and the event grew in 2006 in terms of participants, media attention, and sponsor and community involvement. The 2007 Race Director(s) will have the unique opportunity of capitalizing on our early successes, while further developing this event to reach its full potential. Resumes and letters of interest should be submitted to info@ktc.org by Friday, May 5, 2006.

Primary responsibilities include: - Financial management, including development of budget - Sponsorships, including new and existing, cash and in-kind - Marketing, including development and execution of plans for the races and all race-weekend events - Committee management, including coordination of Marathon Organizing Committee (35 "teams" in 2006) - Operations management, including planning and execution of the event operations - Marathon, Half-Marathon, Relay, 5k, Kids Run, Expo, Post Race Party, Volunteer Party.

Essential skills include: - People skills - Financial skills - Resource identification and mobilization skills - Marketing and sales skills - Negotiating skills - Communication skills, verbal and written - Technology skills - basic office software capability is essential; accounting, graphics and web development software capability is a plus.
