The
Grand Prix will return in February, 2006. The ATC's competition
committee will release updated rules and schedule for the
Grand Prix prior to the start of the next season.
The
rules for 2004-05 Grand Prix:
-
You
must be an ATC member to participate in the Grand Prix.
Your membership will be verified as we start the new series
and as we progress through the 2005 year.
-
Points
will be awarded only for your position in the race designated
on the Grand Prix schedule. For example, if the Spring
Fling 10k is on the schedule, no points will be awarded
in the Spring Fling 5k.
-
The
Grand Prix will consist of a fall season and a spring
season. The fall season will run from July-November and
the spring season will run from February-June. There will
be no Grand Prix races in December or January. There will
be 18 races on the Grand Prix schedule – nine in the fall
and nine in the spring.
-
Adults
must compete in at least three fall races and three spring
races to qualify for the points competition. Only your
three best finishes will be scored. Runners 19 and under
must compete in two races each season due to school cross
country and track seasons.
-
The
Grand Prix will be scored like a cross country race, with
the first ATC member to finish receiving one point, the
second two points, and so on. The participants with the
lowest score will be the Grand Prix winners. The combined
totals from both seasons will determine the Grand Prix
champions.
-
If
you change age groups during the Grand Prix season, you
will compete in your new age group. Points will be transferred
from your original age group to your new age group.
-
The
age groups are as follows: 14 & Under,15-19, 20-24,
25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64,

are any runners aged 40 and older.
-
The
top three in each division and age group will receive
their awards at the 2005 ATC Summer Picnic.
-
The

awards, while the top three in each age group will receive
plaques. The cash awards for overall will be $200 for
