Bill Dickason, volunteer at the Buncombe County Council on Aging for SHIIP (Seniors’ Health Insurance Information Program)
Summary: As a volunteer helping people with their Medicare Insurance Plans, Bill has learned that many people do not have the information, or tools, that they need to make informed choices. He will discuss how to choose your Medicare supplement (Medigap) insurance plan and company on the basis of cost; how to find the lowest cost Part D, drug plan based on the actual drugs that you regularly take; how to compare a Medicare Advantage Plan (Part C) versus original Medicare (Part B). Emphasis will be on the internet tools available, and a hand-out will be provided. You can change your Medicare health or prescription drug coverage for year 2012 during the new, earlier enrollment period of October 15 to December 7, 2011. You can, however, change your Medicare supplement (Medigap) insurance at anytime since it is simply private insurance. If you do not understand any of this, you definitely need to attend.

This event is to welcome new members. You are a new member if you have joined since last year’s
October cocktail party. We will once again be asking established member couples to bring hors d’oeuvres to serve 20; singles enough to serve 10. We will be providing mixed drinks, wine, soft drinks and juice for the two redeemable drink ticket tokens each participant receives. There is no fee for this members-only event but

Crowfields is located on Hendersonville Road south of Deerfield
Retirement Community and the new Wells Fargo Bank, and north of The Rush Fitness Center and Overlook Road. It is on the west side of the highway. Upon entering the complex turn left almost immediately at the sign that says “Clubhouse - Office” where there is ample parking.
