Tags and Titles
Upon moving to North Carolina from another state, you
must register your motor vehicle within 30 days.
Out-of-state residents moving to North Carolina should
obtain a North Carolina driver's license prior to
registering a vehicle.
To register your motor vehicle, you must furnish the
Department of Motor Vehicle the title (unless title is in
the possession of a lien holder) and a valid registration
card from the state of prior registration. The local tag and
registration office is located at the Kloset Flowers & DMV Shop on
South Main Street in Robbinsville.
Drivers License
All new residents must obtain a driver's license within
60 days of establishing a permanent residence. All
new residents must take a written, road sign and vision
test, so be sure to obtain your free traffic rules
booklet.
The Department of Motor Vehicle van is parked at the
Department of Social Services office on Knight Street on
Tuesdays from 8 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and from 1 p.m. to 5
p.m. for drivers license applicants. You will need
to surrender your out-of-state license, show proof of
insurance and proof of residency, such as a preprinted
utility bill with your local address.
Fifteen-year-olds can get a learner's permit, provided
they have completed a drivers training course.
Those under 18 get a provisional license that restricts
unsupervised driving hours.

The town of Robbinsville operates a municipal trash
pickup. County residents may deposit their trash at
county Dumpster sites. Recycling boxes may be
found in the parking lot of Ingles Supermarket and at the
recycling center on Atoah Road. If you have

The Graham County Sheriff's Department is responsible for
countywide law enforcement. Residents may call 911
in case of an emergency or 828-479-3352 for
