Internet and Computer Use Rules

·        To use the Internet at the Library, all users must agree to the Library’s Internet Access Rules by clicking below.

·        If computers are shared, all users must agree to the Library’s Internet Access Rules.

·        All users of electronic information resources are expected to use these resources in a responsible manner, consistent with the educational and informational purposes for which they are provided, and to follow the Library’s basic rules and regulations.

·        Computer use is managed with a voucher system.  Each voucher is for 30 minutes, beginning on the hour or half-hour.  Patrons are limited to four vouchers per day, no matter what time the voucher is actually checked out.  A patron checking out a voucher at 12:10 or 12:20 will receive the 12:00 voucher, and will only be eligible to check out three additional vouchers.  If you know you will be using the computer for up to the two-hour limit you may check out all four vouchers at the same time, returning them when you are finished.  Patrons may be limited to one voucher if others are waiting.  These rules will be enforced even when the computer stations are not in use to ensure fair and equitable use.

·        Vouchers may not be removed from the premises.  There will be a $2.00 charge for lost or damaged vouchers.

·        Children 11 years and under using the computers must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or legal care giver.

·        Damage to computer equipment will be the financial responsibility of the user or the parent or guardian of a child under the age of 17.

·        A parent, guardian, or legal caregiver, through signature, is responsible for the access of young adults from the ages of 12 to 17.

·        It is the responsibility of parents, guardians, or caregivers to determine what is appropriate for their own children.

·        Be considerate in your use of the Internet. You are in a public place where children may be present.

·        You cannot send, receive or display inappropriate materials, defined as text or graphics that may reasonably be construed as obscene.

·        Respect the privacy of others.

·        Do not misrepresent yourself by access code, password or signature.

·        Do not attempt to alter hardware or software.

·        Do not make copies of copyrighted or licensed software or data unless such use is authorized.

·        Please use “Print Preview” before printing.  All copies printed must be picked up and paid for at the circulation desk.

·        Any violation of policy may result in Internet privilege suspension for a time determined by policy and/or by the Director.  Illegal use of the Internet will be subject to prosecution and loss of all library privileges.
