I'm sure i have some anecdotal information about this shot, but I'm at a loss at the moment.

DESCRIPTION:
A medium-sized shrub, usually 3 feet, at least in the mountains. Leaves are elliptic, and minutely toothed or not at all. The flowers are urn-shaped, mostly white, but varying from pinkish to greenish. The berries are recognizable by their 5 pointed belly-button. The twigs are slender and zig-zaggy.

FLOWERS:
March to May (Berries Late July to August)

HABITAT:
Prefers acidy soil. Grows in woodland borders, in high tundra-like areas, upland bogs and barrens, and thickets.

 

OTHER INFORMATION:
This is an indicator species for Oak-Hickory forests.
