HTML = HyperText Markup Language (All computer platforms understand it, key is HyperText -- links to other documents on the Internet
Tags = keywords enclosed in < > also known as angle brackets, most are paired, some are nonpaired

<HR> displays a Horizontal Rule
- Attributes are options available for some tags
 <TABLE BORDER>
- Values are choices you have for a given attribute
 <BODY BGCOLOR="#FFFFFF"> displays a white background
- Nesting Tags: When you use multiple tags, order is everything!

URL, or Uniform Resource Locator, means Internet address. Every document on the Internet has its own unique URL.

- http (HyperText Transfer Protocol) is used to access pages on the World Wide Web
- ftp (File Transfer Protocol) for downloading files from the Net
- telnet for connecting to a remote computer
- mailto for sending electronic mail
- news for sending and receiving Usenet newsgroup messages
