ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- As the governor declares a state of emergency and residents rush to beat a possible shortage, gas stations in the mountains are running out.

Several Ingles gas stations in our area said they were completely out on Saturday. Many remained empty on Sunday as well.

A major pipeline break is behind the issue. When the spill from the Colonial Pipeline in Alabama was discovered, the company shut the line down.

The pipeline runs from Texas to New York and supplies gas to an estimated 50 million people a day on the East Coast.

The disruption in supply is causing some stations to run dry, and prices to go up.

The pipeline's operator has said full service will not be restored until at least next week.
