Charlotte man arrested for firing a stolen gun into an Asheville hotel

A Charlotte man was arrest Saturday after police said he fired a stolen gun into the Ramada Inn on Fairview Road.

Personal trainer Trevor Taylor Miles, 32, is charged with felon in possession of a stolen firearm, a semi-automatic Springfield XD 40. He also faces two misdemeanor charges of injury to personal property and discharging a firearm in city limits.

According to Asheville Police, Miles got into a fight with his girlfriend, went outside to cool down and then fired two rounds into the front side windows.

"He went outside and fired off two rounds into the hotel. He then went back to his room and fell asleep," APD's Wally Welch said.

Police recovered shell casings, bullets and the the stolen gun.

Monica Ramiriz, who was staying at the hotel during the time of the shooting, said she didn't hear the gun shots but saw the aftermath.

"There was a lot of glass everywhere. We were trying to figure out what happened," Ramiriz said.

The two large front windows are covered with plastic tarps.

Miles was released from the Buncombe County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond.
