Hamilton FFA wraps up a great year with banquet

The 2015-16 Hamilton FFA year officially began with the recent banquet and included the introduction of the new officers, including, from left, new vice presidents, Jack Ballard and Katie Rounds; and Chelsea Reagan, chapter president.

The Hamilton FFA chapter held their annual end of the year banquet and silent auction on June 19. Many family members, school advisors, and FFA members from other schools attended to see the awards ceremony. Hamilton’s FFA chapter and many partnering companies also helped to hand out awards to deserving members.

The banquet included the final goodbyes of the 2014-15 Hamilton FFA officers including Lindsey Palmer, president; Kristiann Wratten, vice president; Lianna Mattingly, reporter; Chelsea Reagan, sentinel; Shelby Blake, sentinel, Jack Ballard, student advisor; and Kallie Jaquay, secretary and treasurer.

The Hamilton FFA also lost three amazing senior members this year as Lindsey, Kristiann, and Lianna are going off to college this upcoming year. Lindsey Palmer, Hamilton’s former president, will be going on to be the New York State FFA Sentinel for the 2015-16 year along with attending college. The officers presented their parents with appreciation flowers.

Honorary Degree Awards were presented to Mr. Matt Crumb, Dr. Patrick Curtin, Mr. Bill Dowsland, and Mr. Kevin Ellis. The Camp Oswegatchie scholarships were presented to Mason Knochenmus, Shelby Curtis, Addison Schoonmaker, Josh Figeroa, Isiah Figeroa, Zach Barker, Billy Egerer, Carlie Underwood, and Kerigan Kelly, while the Kathy Conde award was presented to Kelly Bassett.

Greenhand Awards went to Zach Gonzales, Tyler Dowsland, Sam Campbell, Doug Urben, Corey Kane, Trevor Dow, Becca Rogers, Katie Rounds, Ashlee Prentice, Kaylin Roe, Alyssa Gronlund, Shelby Curtis, Willow Markin, and Mikayla Jones.

The Star Greenhand Award was presented to Ashlee Prentice and Chapter Degree Awards were received by Kelly Bassett, Jack Ballard, Shelby Blake and Lianna Mattingly; and the Star Chapter Award was awarded to Jack Ballard.

The Madison Farm Bureau Jacket Award was presented to Kaylin Roe; the Ed and Tori Carhart Jacket Award was awarded to Willow Markin and Chelsea Reagan; and the Ms. Tiffany Drape Jacket Award was given to Mikayla Jones. The appreciation awards were presented to Steve Wratten, Heather Jaquay, Chris Carhart, Erin Ballard, and Doc and Chris Palmer.

The Growing Scholars Scholarship of $1,000 was presented to Lindsey Palmer and the Monsanto Scholarship of $1,500, America’s Farmers Grow Ag Leaders scholarship, was presented to Kristiann Wratten. In the area of Veterinary Medicine-gold ranked, the Proficiency Award was presented to Lindsey Palmer.

The banquet ended with the implementation of the 2015-16 school year FFA officers President Chelsea Reagan, Vice President(s) Jack Ballard and Katie Rounds, Secretary Shelby Blake, Treasurer Kallie Jaquay, Sentinel Kelly Bassett, and Student Advisor Kaylin Roe.

The final order of business for this year’s banquet was announcement of the winners for the silent auction winners before the banquet officially ended with the final closing ceremony of the 2014-15 officer team.
