Milford man killed in car crash near Laurel

Staff Reports

Kentrell A. Savage, a 24-year-old man from Milford, has been identified as the driver in a fatal car crash that occurred on Aug. 25 east of Laurel, according to Delaware State Police spokesman Master Cpl. Gary Fournier.

An investigation indicated the crash occurred around 8:10 Tuesday night as Savage was driving a 2005 Cadillac CTS westbound on Laurel Rd. (Route 24), just west of Christ Church Rd., at a high rate of speed while approaching a moderate left curve, Fournier said.

Savage failed to negotiate the curve and crossed the eastbound lane before exiting the south side of the road. Fournier said the car then struck a drainage ditch and began to flip and roll, at which point, the unbelted driver was ejected and landed on the south edge of the road.

The Cadillac came to an uncontrolled stop just south of the south edge of the road in an upright position. Savage, who was the only person in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene, said Fournier.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into this incident.
