FOREST CITY – Thanks to students from Forest City Regional High School and Career Technology Center of Lackawanna County, trail users have a new place to secure their bikes. Saturday, August 6 the public was invited to a special ceremony to unveil the new rack on Rail-Trail Council’s Erie Street Trailhead.

The project is made possible through the hard work and creativity of students from the Career Technology Center of Lackawanna County (CTC) and Forest City Regional School District.

Maggie Liggus and Macy Phillips, seniors at Forest City Regional High School, served as the design team. Maggie has been accepted to the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) and intends to study Civil Engineering.

Macy has been accepted to Wilkes University and intends to study Environmental Engineering.

CTC students who manufactured the bike rack include Alex Bean and Jake Reeder, both students from Forest City Regional High School; Matt Neuwiler, a student at North Pocono High School; and Brandon Walker, a student at Valley View High School.

The bike rack’s design captures the spirit of both the D&H Rail-Trail and the town of Forest City.

The new bike rack may serve as a template for future racks to be installed in front of businesses on Main Street.
