The Kiwanis Club of Tryon welcomed four new members to the service club during its Feb. 27 lunch meeting.

The new members are Sue Luss, Lynne Parsons, Lynnette Sills and Katy Murphy.

Kiwanis Club of Tryon is a group of service-minded working professionals and retirees who are dedicated to transforming our community and our world, one child and one family at a time.

For more than 90 years, the Kiwanis Club of Tryon has worked to raise money for college scholarships and various needs that can improve the lives of children such as school and community playgrounds, reading with children, providing food, clothing and dictionaries for children in need.

Kiwanis Club of Tryon also sponsors Terrific Kids Club in the elementary schools, the Key Club in high school and the Aktion Club, a service club for adults with disabilities.

The local club meets at noon each Wednesday at the Congregational Church for lunch and speaker-presentations but also enjoys additional opportunities to gather for fun and fellowship.
