Pinning ceremony held for Blue Ridge Community College nursing grads

Students from the M.E. Oliphant School of Nursing at Blue Ridge Community College held their annual pinning ceremony at the Blue Ridge Conference Hall on the Henderson County Campus on May 8.

The graduates of the 2019 class are Mackenzie Austin, Jamie Burgess, Joshua Cole Chapman, Jannet Cruz, Natasha Ellis, Mary “Katie” Finnan, Lesslie Franklin, Renee Gaillard, Hannah Guthrie, Brooke Herman, Desiree Kroeper, Melissa Ledgerwood, Jessica Danielle Major, Katelyn Marcello, Miranda Mathews, Tamaira Munoz, Shannon Singleton Niven, Amber Osteen, Jennifer Rief, Brittany Rothrock, Preston Schelenz, Sarah Stephens, Lindsey Watkins, Jessica Whited, Joshua Whitmire, Ashely Violet Wiseman, Kacie Rene Young and Sara Crouse Zappile.

The graduates have met the education requirements to take the NCLEX-RN, the National Council Licensure Examination for registered nurses.

At the pinning ceremony, Hannah Guthrie received the top academic award, and Brittany Rothrock and Joshua Whitmire received the clinical excellence awards.

Dr. Deb Henry, Blue Ridge director of nursing, conducted the pinnings with the assistance of instructors Lynde Mickey, Joy Oliver, Robyn Dixon, and Terri Locke.
