Settling into the new one in Lexington, 30 miles away
But there was a lot of moving along the way!
with help from Keosha's sister,
Kayla, a student at Berea College,
and the moving crew from Black Mountain
The move worked out "work" wise too as Keosha was able to transfer to a Red Lobster in Lexington, and David began an internship with the Lexington Police Dept. while working in the Amazon "Fulfillment Center"...where all your stuff comes from.
Here's David with the mug he received upon successful completion of the internship.
He has now completed everything for his Masters in Liberal Studies (empasis on Criminal Justice).
His emails home have been fascinating...recounting his time spent in forensics, patrol, canine, mounted,
dispatch, sexual assault, and the many other parts of a 500-officer strong police force.
It has made his parents appreciate
everything involved in that service to the community.
Meanwhile, his work with Amazon is ama-zing! Check the next book you order from Amazon and see if it says "Printed in Lexington, KY" on the back of the last page. If so, David may have printed it...with a humongous machine that even puts on the covers. Who needs shelves of inventory if you can just print-on-demand?
Check out the machine at this link:

David and Keosha traveled with us to visit Grandma Martin,
Fern's mother in Lancaster County, PA.
On the way, we
stopped for a bucolic picnic and, yikes again,
check out the alien bug that was under the table. Huge!
Fern's mother is in a lovely assisted living facility in rural Lancaster County, PA.
Here, we are greeting her and then saying good-bye.
Keosha and David have found a wonderful place to hike outside
Lexington, Raven's Run Nature Sanctuary.
Here's a photo and then a link to their pictures:

David and Keosha both worked for several years in Berea for a McDonalds franchise with two restaurants.
David became
aware that neither he nor any of the
workers were being paid for their required fifteen-minute breaks, two per shift. David went to the
franchise owners with the regulations and ask
them to pay folks. They
refused and David, with the knowledge of the owners, reported it to the State Labor Department.
The State supboenaed employee records for everyone who had worked at that McDonalds franchise for five years.
In 2013, David, Keosha, and scores of employees(and probably more) received back-pay due to them from the owners
via the State, averaging out to several hundred dollars per employee.
David and Keosha took this photo and sent it to the State Labor Department investigator who followed
through:
Now, we parents are proud of David's action: what he did and how he did it.
But their cat,
Jules, doesn't seem so impressed, and maybe we should all just take a nap:
