Constance E. Richards is an independent journalist, author, and interpreter based in Asheville, North Carolina. She specializes in news feature writing, biographical (personality) portraits, travel writing, art and culture features, art and culinary reviews, and select ghost writing and PR projects.

Richards lived in Russia for almost seven years, reporting for TIME Magazine and as Moscow correspondent for LIFE Magazine. Her articles have also appeared in PEOPLE and the British paper The Daily Telegraph. She has reported for FORTUNE, Sports Illustrated, and Conde Nast Traveler. She also worked for ABC News, British documentary television in Russia, and team-reported with BBC Radio. She has interviewed and profiled Mike Wallace, Tipper Gore, Ukranian ice skater Oksana Baiul, Russian ice skater Yekaterina Gordeyeva and husband Sergei Grinkov, as well as everyone from Russian government figures and filmmakers to bikers, boxers and fashion designers.

Richards regularly reports for Time Magazine and PEOPLE from the Southeastern region. She also travels and writes for a number of regional, national, and international travel, art , and culinary magazines.

Book Credits: Richards co-authors the Insiders' Guide: North Carolina's Mountains (Globe Pequot). She wrote Artful Asheville-Along the Urban Trail (J.Farrell Enterprises) in 2000, and authored the coffee table gift books The Weekend Crafter: Making Books and Journals (Lark Books) and Creative Giftwraps (Lark Books).

Fluent in German and Russian, Richards accepts oral interpreting assignments and text translations in those languages.
