CANTON, N.C. (WLOS) — A man was arrested Wednesday, April 24, and charged in connection to a domestic incident in Canton that led to an officer-involved shooting.
Haywood County Sheriff's Office said Steven Hawkins, 47, of Canton, was arrested Wednesday in relation to the officer-involved shooting on April 6 on Rivermont Road.

Hawkins has been charged with the following:

The names of three officers whom Hawkins is charged with felony assault on law enforcement with a firearm are Corp. J. West, Dep. M. Smathers and Dep. M. Buckner.
Officials said Hawkins was also charged with two counts of misdemeanor domestic violence protective order violations about two weeks after the incident on Rivermont Road. Those two alleged violations took place on April 19 and 20.
Hawkins is being held in the Haywood County Detention Center under a $250,000 bond.
