when people talk about war
I vow with all beings
to raise my voice in the chorus
and speak of original peace.

Robert Aitken

Zen Center of Asheville is a Soto Zen Temple in Asheville, North Carolina. We offer instruction in zazen (sitting meditation), study groups and lectures. A daily sitting schedule is maintained and periodic sesshins (1- 5+ days of silent meditation) are available at both the Asheville temple and at Southern Dharma Retreat Center in the mountains near Hot Springs, North Carolina. ZCA's resident teacher is Reverend Teijo Munnich, a disciple of the late Dainin Katagiri Roshi.

All meetings are open to the public; anyone is welcome to participate. This site has a schedule of zazen periods, study groups, lectures and related activities as well as links and listings of other Buddhist and meditation groups. If you have any questions prior to coming, feel free to e-mail one of the ZCA officers (see location page). You do not have to have prior experience in any kind of meditation practice to join us for zazen.
