Current Project (Click Photos to enlarge) Community Supported Development (CSD) is currently working to halt inappropriate development and encouraging sustainable alternatives at the Sayles Bleachery site. A new development plan has been submitted to the City that contains almost 400,000 square feet of commercial space in three retail "big box" stores, smaller retail and office space, condominiums and a hotel/convention center. Our Oakley, Beverly Hills, Haw Creek, Viewpoint and Redwood Forest neighborhoods would suffer immense traffic and safety hardships as a result. Such developments have had serious negative impact on local economies nationwide. Monday, September 16, 2001 CSD, along with other aggrieved parties, have filed an appeal, in Buncombe County Superior Court. The appeal seeks to revoke the Conditional Use Permit issued by the City of Asheville for this project.
