on Hwy. 191/Brevard Rd. to Arboretum entrance.

Courses
All events start at the Arboretum Visitor
Education Center. One mile of the 5K and 10K is on asphalt with the rest on
former Forest Service dirt roads and trails. The Fun Run uses the Natural
Garden Trail Loop. NOTE: The 5K and 10K courses travel in opposite directions,
so when you meet oncoming runners give them an encouraging cheer and PLEASE
KEEP TO YOUR RIGHT to avoid collision.

Youth Groups
Middle and high school teams, youth camps and youth running clubs may register
for $10 each if 5 or more runners register from a single organization.
Individual entries must be submitted together in a single envelope to receive
the discount.
Packet Pickup
Late registration and packet pickup will be held on Friday, June 16
from 5:30 to 8:00 PM, and Saturday, June 17 from 6:30 to 7:30 AM at the
Arboretum Visitors Center.
Goody Bags
The first 400 registered runners in the 5K and 10K will receive
acrylic wicking running socks, especially designed for 2006 Bent Creek Classic.
Fun Run participants will receive age appropriate gifts from the NC Arboretum.
Awards
For the 5K and 10K, prizes will be awarded to top three overall male
and female, top three masters male and female and top three in the following
age groups: 12 & Under; 15-18; 19-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49;
50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70 & Over. No double dipping! Everyone
completing the Garden Trail one-mile Fun Run will receive a finishers ribbon.
Parking/Traffic
There will be no parking fee assessed to race participants and
volunteers from 7:00-8:45 AM. The main entrance gate on Frederick Law Olmsted
Way will be closed from 8:45-10:00 AM for the events.
Proceeds
All proceeds from these races go to the NC Arboretum Society and
the Asheville Track Club, both nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organizations. The NC
Arboretum Society supports the Arboretum’s efforts in education, conservation,
research, garden demonstration and economic development. The Asheville Track
Club’s mission is to promote running and fitness through education, training,
races and social events.
